Aweh Annih Akofu

Researcher

Aweh Akofu is a TVET teacher and an advocate for improved livelihoods among underserved populations, promoting innovation, best practices, and access to essential services. She holds a Master’s degree in Project Management and serves as a researcher with eBASE Africa, where she contributed to developing the eBASE Teaching and Learning Toolkit, an up-to-date overview of thousands of educational research synthesized into 27 easy-to-read summaries with specific recommendations for teachers (eBASE Teaching and Learning Toolkit). This was done  in collaboration with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), UK.

A Grand Challenges Canada Star in Global Health recipient, Aweh led a pilot storytelling-based initiative to raise awareness on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) among non-literate communities. This led to a 62.29% increase in community knowledge on the different types of SGBV. She is passionate about evidence communication and stakeholder engagement, using storytelling, evidence portals, and capacity-building to bridge the gap between research and policy.

Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and interior design, and is dedicated to helping children achieve their dreams regardless of background.
