Research Evidence Transferability Model: A Mathematical Approach to Using Research Recommendations Across Context Using a Classification and Regression Trees (CART) Model.

The eBASE Research Evidence Transferability Model provides a systematic approach to assessing whether research recommendations can be applied across different contexts. Using a Classification and Regression Trees (CART) approach, the model considers key differences and similarities in populations, interventions, comparators and outcomes, alongside stakeholder input, to predict transferability. It helps decision-makers determine whether existing evidence can be adopted, requires contextualisation, or whether new evidence should be generated, supporting more efficient evidence use and reducing unnecessary research costs and waste.

The model and its components are described using the Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR).
