eBASE Africa is an international charity registered in Cameroon working to make basic services more effective by ensuring best available research evidence is applied in service delivery.
We operate across the evidence ecosystem – evidence implementation, primary research, evidence synthesis, evidence translation, and evidence implementation.


About the opportunity


We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Data Analyst to join our team. As a Data Analyst, you should be able to harness the power to scale up the use of data and data users in education as this role will be highly instrumental in this project. You will be required to be efficient in the management and mining of secondary and primary data sources, to enable timely and error-free reporting to our stakeholders. Your active role will be to support data analysis and ensure that all projects and publications are properly archived. Your responsibilities also include; 

  • Build efficient and well-documented methods for easy, repeatable extraction and cleaning of primary and secondary data sources.
  • Process ad-hoc data requests and the deliverables should be timely, accurate and supported by definitions and insight where appropriate.
  • Generate high quality formal analytical reports on key program delivery outcomes such as; enrolment, retention and learning.
  • Develop dashboards to monitor performance and quality of program delivery.
  • Conduct periodic data assessments through pattern and outlier analysis.
  • Engage and collaborate with educational stakeholders at both national and international levels. 
  • Interpret data, analyse results and trends, using statistical approaches where appropriate.
  • Design new data collection formats and reports for new projects.
  • Analyse data for inaccuracies and outliers and highlight possible risks in reporting data.
  • Carry out any additional responsibilities required.

 

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Data and  Social Sciences, or any related field.
  • Experience with data analysis software, such as SPSS or STATA.
  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently remotely, and in a small team.
  • Strong programme management skills.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in data analytics/visualization and IT.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity
  • High standard of computer competency and literacy. With experience in using Python and R to clean data.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work demands.
  • High standards of spoken and written English.
  • High standards of spoken and written French (Strongly preferable).
