eBASE Africa Launches Cameroon’s Participation in Global Education Evidence Repository Pilot
Jun 30th 2026
eBASE Africa has officially launched Cameroon's participation in the Synthesis-Ready Evidence Repository (SRER) Pilot through an inception meeting in Yaounde, marking the country's contribution to a global effort to make education evidence more accessible and useful for decision-making. The initiative is led by the What Works Hub for Global Education, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Jacobs Foundation, LEGO Foundation, and Porticus, and implemented in Cameroon by eBASE Africa in technical partnership with the Education Endowment Foundation. The meeting convened representatives from the Ministry of Basic Education, regional and local education authorities, universities, researchers, civil society organisations, and development partners to collaboratively shape the project's direction.
The initiative addresses a critical challenge facing education systems across Africa: while research and data on education continue to grow, decision-makers often struggle to access, synthesise, and apply the evidence needed to make informed policy and practice decisions. Rather than validating a pre-designed project, participants worked together to identify priority policy questions, highlight existing local research and government data, and define the types of evidence products that would best support decision-making.
As part of the global pilot, eBASE Africa will produce two evidence syntheses focusing on foundational numeracy and social-emotional learning, drawing on both international and Cameroonian evidence. Beyond benefiting from a repository designed to make education evidence easier to find and use, Cameroon will contribute valuable French-language studies, local research, classroom experiences, and contextual knowledge to strengthen global evidence resources. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to ensure that decisions affecting children's learning are consistently informed by the best available evidence, improving learning outcomes and creating better opportunities for every child to thrive.
