eBASE Africa Establishes Institutional Review Board to Strengthen Ethical Research

Jun 30th 2026

eBASE Africa has officially established its Institutional Review Board (IRB), marking a significant milestone in its commitment to advancing ethical, high-quality research.

Formally recognized by Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Health, the review board is mandated to review and issue ethical opinions on  research conducted within or involving eBASE Africa, ensuring studies meet national and international ethical standards. This achievement reinforces the organisation’s growing leadership in evidence generation and responsible research across Africa.

By strengthening ethical oversight, the eBASE IRB will enhance the credibility, integrity, and impact of research, while fostering greater trust among researchers, partners, policymakers, and the communities that benefit from evidence-informed decision-making.
