MBOA in the Loop Event
Apr 17 2026 - Apr 17 2026
Goethe Institut, Yaounde
An information and demonstration event on AI, climate and health evidence in Cameroon.
About the Event
Every decision made about climate and health in Cameroon deserves to be grounded in the best available evidence. MBOA in the LOOP is an event that makes that possible — bringing a new generation of AI-powered evidence tools directly to the people who need them most.
Hosted by eBASE Africa and iCODE Abakwa, eBASE Africa's Intentional Coding for Development initiative, the event presents the DESTINY project to Cameroonian audiences for the first time. DESTINY is a four-year, Wellcome Trust-funded global initiative building tools that make climate and health research faster to find, easier to use, and continuously updated for decision-makers.
On the day, attendees will hear from the young Cameroonian coders who built these tools, see them working live, and have the opportunity to test them firsthand. This is not simply a showcase. It is a feedback session. The perspectives, questions, and honest assessments of everyone in the room will directly shape how these tools continue to develop.
Good tools are shaped by the people who use them. This event is that conversation.
MBOA is a Cameroonian word from the Duala language meaning home, land, community. In the Loop is the guiding principle of DESTINY — that humans must always remain at the centre of any AI-powered process, guiding it and giving it meaning. Together they carry a simple message: the people of Cameroon are not outside this science.
