Research Assistant

Contract:          Short-term (18-month secondment)

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team. As a Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our research initiatives, which are focused on developing evidence-based strategies for improving education outcomes in Africa. Activities would include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct literature reviews to identify relevant research on education
  • Assist in designing and implementing research projects to assess the impact of educational interventions
  • Collect and analyse data from interviews, surveys, and focus group discussions
  • Prepare clear and concise research reports and presentations
  • Collaborate with researchers, project staff, and community partners
  • Engage and collaborate with educational stakeholders at both national and international levels
  • Support in the delivery of education projects assigned to them.
  • Assist in coordinating the logistics of in-person and online events. This will include support on travel, venue and accommodation events for in-person events and organizing online events.
  • Support with sourcing and liaising with providers of goods and services

Skills and experience required

  • Master's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or any related field.
  • Strong research skills, including proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience with data analysis software, such as SPSS or STATA.
  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently remotely, and in a small team.
  • Strong programme management skills.
  • Sound presentation skills (both spoken and written).
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity
  • High standard of computer competency and literacy.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work demands.
  • High standards of spoken and written English.
  • High standards of spoken and written French (Strongly preferable).
